Hannibal
"You're very frank, Clarice. I think it would be quite something to know you in private life. "
- Hannibal Lecter
It is the look in his eyes that gives me a chill, not the fava beans and Chianti lip-sucking moment. That moment is iconic, sure, but it is the look in Hopkins eyes that brings Lecter to life. Throughout the movie they display the cold, calculating intelligence he is known for. They show that the character under his gaze is the prey and he is merely sizing them up, analyzing their weaknesses and preparing for the kill. His eyes are almost casually half open, always relaxed. Although Lecter is kept imprisoned, his demeanor suggests that he is, in fact, the one who is in control of the situation. Then, specifically during the scene where he has the mask on, his eyes are wide-eyed and frenzied. It is apparent how much of a caged animal Lecter truly is.

Happy Times
I went to Disney World with my family a few summers ago. Alas, I was also recovering from surgery. The first day of adventure in Disney was the worst. The photo I used as reference for this picture was taken at the end of the day, when I was feeling my most pathetic. I was thirsty, hungry, dripping with sweat, felt like I ran a marathon while someone drove an axe through my skull (repeatedly), stuck nails behind my eyes (repeatedly) and used a couple of hammers to play the drums with my lower back. I also had some major swass. Yes, swass. That is a combination of the words 'sweaty' and 'ass'. It felt like a jungle down there. You know the TV show, 'Lost', right? Do you remember how it was ALWAYS raining and everyone was constantly drenched and trying to run through the jungle where there were all these giant wet jungle leaves (because of the rain and humidity) slapping their faces and they didn't have any machetes so they couldn't just cut them apart and had to keep running while being slapped in the face with wet jungle leaves while being rained on? Sometimes they would even slip and fall because the ground was slippery and wet because of the rain. Well, those scenes were like my swass. I get a royalty cheque from J.J. Abrams. Sure, NBC would technically pay for that sort of thing, but J.J. Abrams writes me the cheque. OH. AND. The smoke monster and Dharma polar bears, I won't even start on those.
What was I talking about? Riiiight. Florida. Misery. I digress...
I have a code to live up to. "Laugh or Cry". When faced with an unfortunate situation, one can either laugh, or they can cry. I chose laugh. Therefore, I tried on silly Disney hats and had fun with my misery. Everyone should be miserable in Disney World, I haven't had so much fun in a long time.
